New York-- Kurt Honis of North Syracuse High School After his pin in the Finals of the Section III tourney. Kurt had 26 pins in his 36 wins this year on his way to claim 3rd place in the New York State Tourney. Kurt is headed for Syracuse University where his idol and North Syracuse grad John Janick was 1975 N.C.A.A. runner-up.

December 15, 1978 - Volume14 Number 4
Howard Shannon (right) of Franklin High School met Wayne Sheen of Gibbon in a battle of the unbeatens at the Nebraska State Wrestling Championships. Sheen scored a 10-4 victory over the defending state champ, and went on to win the 112 pounde class. Shannon's Franklin Flyers won the State Class C championship and were undefeated in the Season, winning all 11 tournaments they were in.

Action came in the New York State Invitatinal Championships held at RIT. Reid, who won the 134 pound state title, disposed of Hanna by a 13-6 margin in the semi-finals.

October 15, Issue 1978 - Volume14 Number 2
Lou Durant (Jackson) is working a high single against Andy Zukermann (North Burlington) in the finals of the 122 lb bout of the 1978 NJ State Tournament. Durant went on to take a 3-2 victory over the defending champions and in doing so became the winningest wrestler in New Jersey History. He has scored 118 victories during his 4-year varsity career, topping the previous record of 115 held by Tom Husted (Pascack Hills). Tom is now a freshman wrestling for the University of Wisconsin.
