Three Win ECWC Weekly Awards
Seniors Jon Gregory (Phillipsburg, N.J.) of Ithaca and Joe Murphy (Smithtown) of Cortland and freshman Tyler Marlow (Palmyra) of Brockport have been honored by the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC). Gregory and Murphy shared the Wrestler of the Week award and Parks was named Rookie of the Week.
Gregory, ranked fifth at 125 pounds, won three bouts at the North/South Duals, hosted by Ursinus. He pinned two opponents and posted a win over Division III's eighth-ranked wrestler. Gregory is unbeaten (15-0) on the year.
Murphy also went undefeated at the North/South Duals. His four wins at heavyweight included a pin, a major decision and an overtime win over the nation's 10th-ranked wrestler. Murphy is 18-3 on the season.
Wrestling at 125 pounds, Marlow was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the American College Division of the Virginia Duals tournament. He won three matches to lead Brockport to a third-place finish. He pinned two opponents (both Division II opponents) and earned a one-point decision.

Matt Mahon of Ithaca and Pat Krenz of Brockport Win ECWC Weekly Awards
A pair of heavyweights - sophomore Matt Mahon (Rochester) of Ithaca and freshman Pat Krenz (Palmyra) of Brockport - have been named Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Wrestler of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Mahon pinned both his opponents, raising his team-leading total to seven falls. He needed just 50 seconds to pin his Rochester Institute of Technology opponent then picked up a third-period fall in #4 Ithaca's win over Oswego.
Krenz opened his dual-match season by recording a 13-4 major decision in a bout against Lycoming.

Dahlheimer of Lycoming & Pariso of Lycoming ECWC Weekly Award Winners
Senior Chris Dahlheimer (Red Lion, Pa.) of Lycoming and freshman Luke Pariso (Attica) of Lycoming have been named Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Wrestler of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Dahlheimer, ranked fourth nationally, went 4-1 on the week by picking up two wins by fall and two major decisions. His only loss of the week came to the nation's second-ranked wrestler. and his pins both came in the first period. He earned a major decision against an opponent from Division II Ashland.
Pariso won the 184-pound title at Springfield's Doug Baker Invitational, leading Brockport to a second place finish (by just 2.5 points). He scored a pin in the first round and a major decision in the quarterfinals and won the championship with a 7-3 decision.

Aljamain Sterling Selected as ECWC Wrestler of the Week
Cortland junior Aljamain Sterling (Uniondale) has been named the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Nov. 15. The award, the first of the year for the conference, covers the opening two weeks of competition.
Sterling opened the season by finishing in first place as the sixth seed at 133 pounds at the Ithaca Invitational Nov. 7-8. He posted a 4-0 record with wins over the top three seeds, which included two All-Americans and another national qualifier from last season. He was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler.
Last weekend, Sterling earned two victories at Wilkes' John Reese Duals, including one over the nationally 19th-ranked host Colonels. Cortland finished 4-0 at the tournament and is ranked 16th in Division III.

Sterling and Brenon Win Season's First ECWC Awards
Junior Aljamain Sterling (Uniondale) of Cortland and freshman Derek Brenon (Watertown) of Ithaca College have been named Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Wrestler of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. This marks the first weekly award selection of the season and covers the first two weeks of competition.
Sterling opened the season by finishing first at 133 pounds at the Ithaca Invitational with a 4-0 record. The sixth seed, Sterling beat the top three seeds, which included two all-Americans and another national qualifier from last season. He was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler. At Wilkes' John Reese Duals, he picked up two wins including one over the #19 host Colonels.
Brenon was also a champion at the Ithaca Invitational, winning the title at 157 pounds as the eighth seed. He edged the top seed by a point, then beat the fourth seed 16-9 in the semifinals. Brenon pinned both his opponents at Wilkes' John Reese Duals to remain unbeaten on the season.

Cortland's Stef Sair and Ithaca's Justin Seifried Win Inaugural ECWC Year-End Awards
*Senior Stef Sair (Huntington) of Cortland and freshman Justin Seifried (Herkimer) of Ithaca have been named the inaugural winners of the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards, as voted on by the conference's coaches and sports information directors.
Sair finished as runner-up at 184 pounds at last weekend's NCAA Championships, coming within a point of winning consecutive national titles (he won the 174-pound crown as a junior) and helping the Red Dragons place eighth in the team standings. A three-time all-American, he finished his senior season 22-3 after joining the wrestling team at the conclusion of Cortland's football season.
Seifried was the only ECWC freshman to earn all-America honors, placing seventh at 133 pounds. Ithaca's first freshman all-American in six years, he won the ECWC title and posted a season mark of 23-11.

Calandrino & Dale Win ECWC Weekly Awards
Two Ithaca wrestlers -- senior Nick Calandrino (Emerson, N.J.) and freshman John Dale (Lansdale, Pa.) -- have been named Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Wrestler of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Calandrino clinched #23 Ithaca's win over RIT with a fall at 2:35. Calandrino, who is ranked third nationally, has 44 career pins and needs two to break the Bomber record held by all-American Ron Gross.
Wrestling at 165, Dale improved to 9-6 with a 10-2 major decision in the 23rd-ranked Bombers' 31-12 win over RIT. The win was the 100th dual-match victory for Bomber coach Marty Nichols.

David Ballard (Alder Creek, N.Y.) and Ithaca freshman Joe Goetz (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) Win ECWC Awards
Oneonta sophomore David Ballard (Alder Creek, N.Y.) and Ithaca freshman Joe Goetz (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) have been named Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Wrestler of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Ballard went 2-0 in dual-meet action Saturday, including a 12-7 win over top-ranked Steve Martell of Johnson & Wales. Ballard pinned his other opponent in 2:51.
Goetz posted an overtime win in his collegiate debut, recording a takedown for a 7-5 win that clinched #28 Ithaca's 20-17 win at #15 Lycoming. The Bombers rallied from a 17-0 deficit to improve to 2-0.

(Rochester) have been named Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week award.

(Rochester) have been named co-winners of this week's Empire Collegiate
Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Wrestler of the Week award.
Ortiz was named Most Outstanding Wrestler at the Oneonta Invitational,
going 4-0 at 133 pounds. Seeded third he recorded two pins (including a
fall vs. the top seed in the final) and a major decision to help the Red
Dragons to second place.
Taylor recorded first-period pins of all four of his opponents to win the
heavyweight title at Springfield's Doug Parker Invitational. Taylor
wrestled a total of 4:05 in his four bouts as the Lakers placed sixth in
the 17-team field.

The first ECWC Wrestler and Rookie of the Week awards cover competition through Nov. 13.
Calandrino won the individual title at 184 pounds at the season-opening Ithaca Invitational, posting two pins and winning the final with a takedown in the final seconds. He placed sixth at the UNC Pembroke Open, where Ithaca was the only Division III school competing.
Ciaburri began his career with a fifth-place finish at the Ithaca Invitational. Seeded 10th, he went 5-2 (losing to the second and fifth seeds) with a win over the third seed in the fifth/sixth-place match.
