Miles Community College

Support of Wrestling at Miles Community College at Miles City, MT

We are at a crossroads point here in Miles City and Eastern Montana.

We feel that the Miles Community College is seriously considering the sport of WRESTLING, and that there is a definite place for the sport on its campus and in Montana.

However, TITLE IX has again shown its face. The primary issue is finances for women‚s sports, as well as which women‚s sports to introduce onto the campus.

Serious corporate funding is a factor for consideration ˆ primarily for the women‚s sports.

The purpose of this letter is to request your QUICK and positive response to the Miles Community College ˆ to promote the sport of wrestling at said college, as well as to promote women‚s sports at MCC.

The college has shown growth, and it is capable of further growth in the activity areas.

We believe that if a SIGNIFICANT amount of positive wrestling letters are sent to the MCC heads, that a positive consequence is a very strong possibility.

Please send all correspondence to each of the following:

-                     Dr. Stephanie Hickswa: MCC President, 2715 Dickinson St., Miles City, MT 59301

-                     Rob Bishop: MCC Athletic Director, 2715 Dickinson St., Miles City, MT 59301

NOTE: another additional possibility is to send a letter to the MCC Board ˆ same address

We are asking that you arrange for a MINIMUM of 10 letters from your immediate Eastern Montana area. We ask that all letters be completely promotionally positive.

And, as you might surmise, time is of the essence. Strength in numbers does count, but garnering support NOW ˆ not later ˆ is necessary.

Also, any potential corporate connections would be an absolute HUGE plus! So, please promote this, too! And, please let myself and/or MCC personnel know of said potential connections.

We recommend the mentioning of the following potential women‚s sports for consideration at MCC and for this region: cross-country and fast pitch softball.

Jack Raymond has been the center of the co-ordination of this promotion and has been the primary figure meeting with the MCC people. Please let Jack know of any/all promotion that you have done; also, if there is potential corporate funding, he should be made aware of this as well.

Yours for Wrestling [and all athletic endeavors],
