#6 Augustana Downs Huskies, 46-3

The St. Cloud State University wrestling team (0-1 overall, 0-1 NCC) was
defeated by #6 ranked Augustana College (2-1 overall, 1-0 NCC) in its
opening conference dual meet of the 2005-06 season in Halenbeck Hall.

Sophomore Jason Moore, wrestling at 174, led the Huskies with a 5-2 decision
over AC's Dusty Wilking. Although SCSU put up a tough fight, the Huskies
were defeated 46-3 in tonight's action.

The Huskies fall to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the NCC in dual competition as
Augustana improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the NCC. SCSU will return to
the mat on January 13, as the Huskies will head to Northern State for a 6
p.m. dual meet.

Division II Rankings

EDMOND, Okla. -- Augustana (S.D.) will take the favorite's role into the
2005 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships next week, according to the
final poll released Wednesday by the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches'
Association.

The Vikings, who took over the No. 1 spot from defending national champion
Nebraska-Omaha in the final regular season poll, trimmed the Mavericks by 10
points in last weekend's North Regional and received seven first-place votes
in finishing with 159 points. UNO had the remaining first-place vote and
stayed second with 153 points.

West Regional champion Nebraska-Kearney stayed third in the poll, while
Minnesota State-Mankato was fourth and East Regional winner
Pittsburgh-Johnstown (Pa.) fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 was Midwest Regional champion Ashland (Ohio),
Mercyhurst (Pa.), Adams State (Colo.), Findlay (Ohio) and Central Oklahoma.
North Carolina-Pembroke made the biggest jump, coming in 12th after being
unranked in the last poll.

The 2005 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships will be held March 11-12
in Omaha, Neb.

Augustana qualified all 10 individuals for the national tournament and is
led by three top-ranked individuals -- 125 Aaron Graumann, 149 Ryan King and
184 Tom Meester

Division II Wrestling Rankings

EDMOND, Okla. -- Augustana (S.D.) used a one-point dual victory over
Nebraska-Omaha to overtake the defending national champion Mavericks atop
the NCAA Division II wrestling rankings, according to the final regular
season poll released Wednesday by the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches'
Association.

The Vikings trimmed UNO 20-19 last week to avenge an earlier loss to the
Mavericks in the NWCA Division II National Duals and earned five first-place
votes in finishing with 157 points. UNO received the other three
first-place votes and was just two points behind with 155 points.

Nebraska-Kearney stayed third in the poll, while Minnesota State-Mankato
dropped from second to fourth and Pittsburgh-Johnstown moved from sixth to
fifth.

Augustana is led by four top-ranked individuals -- 125 Aaron Graumann, 149
Ryan King, 184 Tom Meester and 197 Tim Boldt. UNO is paced by No. 1s J.D.
Naig (165) and Les Sigman (285).

Regional tournaments will be held this weekend, with the top-four finishers
at each weight qualifying for the 2005 NCAA Division II Wrestling Champions
on March 11-12 in Omaha, Neb.

The Midwest Regional is Feb. 27 in Kenosha, Wis., the North Regional is Feb.
27 in Marshall, Minn., the East Regional is Feb. 25-26 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
and the West Regional is Feb. 26-27 in Chadron, Neb.

The Warhawks are now 1-1 on the season and Augustana College is 1-0. Both teams are currently ranked in the NCAA Division III poll (Nov. 17). UW-Whitewater is ranked 23rd and Augustana College is ranked 20th. It is interesting to note that UW-W's first home meet under head coach Tim Fader, who took the Whitewater job in July, was against Fader's alma mater (Fader graduated from Augustana in 1991).
