Eddy Rosecrants is the Elmhurst College Male Athlete of the Year

ELMHURST, Ill., May 10, 2002 - Wrestler Eddy Rosecrants (Parma, Mich.-Parma-Western) is the Elmhurst College Male Athlete of the Year. Elmhurst's 2002 Most Valuable Wrestler, Rosecrants led the team to a third-place finish at the CCIW tournament after he won the individual conference championship at 165 pounds. The team captain finished the season with a 29-8 overall record and a 10-3 dual meet record. He placed among the top four in every tournament during the season and led the team in six statistical categories, including wins, takedowns and near falls.

At the Great Lakes Regional Tournament, Rosecrants lost in the championship match after suffering an injury, but was voted by the coaches to serve as an alternate from the region at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Rosecrants' name is scattered throughout the Elmhurst record books. He ranks second in career takedowns (274), fifth in career wins (91) and seventh in career pins (26). He also holds the single-season record for takedowns with 105 and has the fifth fastest pin in Bluejay history (20 seconds).

Rosecrants is the son of Joyce and Bob Rosecrants of Parma, Mich.
The Bluejays are charter members of the CCIW and compete at the NCAA Division III level.
