Black Horse 2003 title successfully defended by Crusaders

Brother Martin traveled to Germantown TN to defend their team title at the
Black Horse Invitational hosted by Houston High School on Friday and
Saturday, December 5 and 6, 2003, and came away victorious. The Crusaders
won the team title with 322.5 points to 279 points for second-place Grissom
High of Huntsville, AL.

Brother Martin won eight individual titles in the process and placed all
fourteen wrestlers. Jack Duffard was named Outstanding Wrestler after
winning all of his matches by fall, and Jordan Woods' overtime finals match
was voted Best Match.

East Ascension Thanksgiving tourney nets several titles for Crusaders

Brother Martin's Crimson and Gold Wrestling Crusaders traveled to Gonzales,
LA on Saturday, November 29, 2003 for the East Ascension Spartans'
Thanksgiving Tournament and won eight weight classes.

James Casadaban (103), Ryan Peppo (119), Christian LeBourgeois (125),
Justin Billiott (125), Matt Cotaya (140), Zack Dureau (152), Jordan Woods
(160) and Tommy Branighan (215) won individual titles and the entire team
won the team title by a substantial margin over their nearest rivals,
Catholic, Zachary and Rummel.

Northshore Panther Invitational Tournament won by Saders

On Saturday, December 13, 2003, the Northshore Panthers held their annual
tournament in Slidell, LA, and Brother Martin was one of nine teams
participating. The Crusaders sent eleven wrestlers and won the team title,
along with seven individual titles.

Winning individual championships were:

James Casadaban (103),
Kevin Seay (119),
Matt Cotaya (140),
Jordan Woods (152),
John Green (171),
Trey Cozic (189) and
Lanier Coleman (275).

John Green defeated Eric Periou of St. Paul's in the finals of the 171
lbs., a rematch of last year's state finals, and won a very hard fought
match by the score of 7-4, leading to John being named the tournament's
Outstanding Wrestler. Christian LeBourgeois (125), Aaron Smith (160), and
TJ Loehn (215) took second place finishes and Zack Dureau (145) took third.
The Crusaders amassed 222 points to take the team title.

Crusaders take away Sam Sara tournament unofficial crown with eight
individual champions

Brother Martin's varsity competed at Rummel High School on Friday, November
21, 2003 in the Sam Sara Tournament and came away victorious with the
unofficial team title, totalling 232.5 points, and claiming eight
individual titles in the process.
