Arkansas Tournaments - Officials

Bill & Rod

I asked around a bit at our Rules Meeting on Tues, and couldn't find anyone else who has registered in AR, but I mentioned it again to some of the newer guys who are in southern MO. I recommend that if AR coaches are thinking they are going to need more officials than they can get in-state for a particular date, they contact MO officials ASAP. Most of our HS matches and tournaments are now booked, and those officials who are free on a given day will now be looking for youth tournaments to do. We are booking for the whole season now, so I would not recommend waiting until a few weeks before a tournament.

Please spread the word to other coaches and tournament directors.  I know that you may be busy with other things (football?) now, but try to get these people to spend a couple hours now thinking about the wrestling season.  If they need MO officials, and I can find a few who are free, these officials may still need some time to get registered with your AAA. I am willing to help locate a few officials, but can't make any guarantees.  Northern AK would probably be more successful that central or southern AK.

I hope that all is going well

Tom

Wrestling is Officially Sanctioned in Arkansas

I want to drop all of you a note to let know that we had the 41st school get their letter in to the AAA and we are now officially sanctioned. It was hard getting all of the letters in with school out for the summer and people being on vacation but appreciate everybody getting the letters in. We will now spend all of our time helping assist the AAA with wrestling this season. I just wanted to get the word out and say thanks again to all of you for your efforts in providing this sport to the kids of Arkansas.

Warmest regards,

Greg Hatcher

p.s. Special thanks to Don Schuler for his countless hours on the phone calling schools for the past few years and getting them interested in wrestling. Also for helping remind the schools to send their letters in.
Arkansas Wrestling is Sanctioned!

The Arkansas Activities Association today voted to sanction the sport of wrestling based on the fact that we had 45 schools committed. The only requirement is that the Superintendent of each school must send in a letter confirming that they will be wrestling during the 2008-2009 school year before August 1st. We will be encouraging Superintendents to get those in this week so that the AAA can start working on organizing the sport for the coming year. Thanks to each and every one of you who have helped build the sport in the state of Arkansas.

Warmest regards,

Greg Hatcher Don Schuler
