Adopting in Russia/My Meeting with Adam Saitiev, Olympic Champion
FYI:
My wife Shannon and I are currently in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia (Russia) completing the adoption process of a beautiful infant girl...She is very beautiful. We plan to bring Mikayla back home to the US in a couple of weeks.
While attending a cultural festival near our hotel in Krasnoyarsk, I ran into Olympic Champion, Adam Saitiev. When I approached him, he was amazed that I recognized him. The Russian adoption officials that are assisting us with our adoption were also amazed that I met Saitiev...He is a national hero in these parts, along with Alexandar Karelin. Also, Krasnoyarsk is the home of former Soviet Coach, Ivan Yarigan. As a result of my knowledge of their national sports heros, they plan to take me to the Russian School of Wrestling in Krasnoyarsk and the Yarigan Event Center where the World Championships were held a few years ago...Been an interesting trip!

Co founder of No Limits is Appointed by the So. CA Westling Association
Juliano Prado's Role will Include Building a Name for the Newly Recognized Martial Art of Grappling
IRVINE, Calif. (March 25, 2008) - Juliano Prado, co-founder and head coach of Brazilian jiu jitsu, grappling and wrestling at No Limits, Southern California's most all-inclusive mixed martial arts (MMA) academy and event center, has recently been appointed as the Southern California Wrestling Association (SCWA) Grappling Director. This distinction is particularly relevant, considering that grappling has only been accepted as a sport by USA Wrestling, Inc. within the last two years, and that Prado will be the first to hold the position of director.
"Juliano Prado was the natural choice of the SCWA for the position of grappling director," said Tom Capsari, president of the Southern California Wrestling Association, the largest regional division of California USA Wrestling, Inc. "His well-established background in both collegiate and professional jiu jitsu, as well as his prominence within the MMA industry, make him the perfect ambassador for the sport of grappling - which will depend on widespread acceptance by the MMA community in order to thrive both nationally and internationally. We are confident that Juliano will assist in bringing grappling to new audiences, providing it the introduction it deserves."
Prado's role will include creating an identity for this sport - a hybrid wrestling style, also known as submission wrestling, through which control of an opponent is established without the use of striking, and by utilizing submission holds and maneuvers.
"Grappling is the natural evolution of jiu jitsu in the United States, where the Brazilian martial art of jiu jitsu meets up with the Western sport of wrestling head-on," says Prado, a Sao Paulo native and current Newport Beach resident. "The result is a unique fusion that I am very passionate about. I look forward to promoting grappling as a sport, which offers new opportunities for athletes interested in MMA. By doing so, I hope to ensure the success of the sport - a mission that has the potential to impact the history of MMA."
With more than 17 years of martial arts experience, Juliano Prado supervises the jiu jitsu, grappling and wrestling programs at No Limits, where he also teaches as many as 20 classes per week.
His experience started with competitive wrestling in high school and college and evolved into the pursuit of a career as a competitive fighter and instructor of Brazilian jiu jitsu. A black belt, eight-time Sao Paulo State Champion, and winner of the Brazilian Nationals in 1994, Prado is credited with prominent wins at the California State Open in 1997, as well as the Washington State Championships in 1998 and 1999. His present record for cage fighting is 4 and 2, and he is a former Gladiator Challenge champion, and member of the United State's first formal grappling team. He is a wrestling coach at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, and a volunteer instructor at the YMCA in Fountain Valley - where he teaches martial arts classes to youth who cannot afford traditional training.

California Youth Wrestling State Championships
Coming to San Jose, CA May 11-13, 2007
The Dollamur Inc. 2007 Dave Schutz Kids/Cadets State Freestyle Championships
Junior Fila Men Freestyle & Greco, Junior Fila Women Freestyle
Hollister, CA -- California‚s best youth programs take center stage in San Jose May 11-13, 2007 at the McEnery Convention Center. Teams from all corners of the Golden State will be competing for State Championship titles in one of the nation‚s top youth wrestling events.
Last year‚s tournament drew nearly 2,000 wrestlers and their families to the area, filling hotels and restaurants in downtown San Jose. This year, California USA Wrestling Inc and Dollamur Inc. have teamed up to make the 2007 Dave Schultz Kids/Cadets Junior FILA State Freestyle wrestling event the premier youth tournament in the country. „We are extremely proud to have Dollamur Inc as our title sponsor,‰ said Duane Morgan, California USA Wrestling State Chairman & Event Director. „They are the best mat manufacturers in the country. Their generous contribution to California USA Wrestling will make this event even bigger and better.‰
This annual championship is an important event for the sport of wrestling, according to Gary Abbott, of USA Wrestling, „California is a wrestling hotbed that takes a leadership role in the sport at all levels. There are more active wrestlers in the state of California than any other state, and many of its top wrestlers achieve at the highest levels. The Kids/Cadet Freestyle Championships should be an outstanding showcase of talent, as top young stars from across the state will battle for state titles. You can see the stars of the future by watching the champions from this event.‰ Gary also talked about the tournaments namesake. „Dave Schultz was an ambassador of goodwill within wrestling, with so many friends all around the world. This native Californian changed the sport of wrestling forever, and we recognize his many achievements by naming this outstanding tournament in his honor.‰
On the local level, Stanford Head Wrestling Coach and Olympian, Kerry McCoy talks about the value of his freestyle wrestling experience as a young competitor, „Freestyle was important because it helped me continue to learn the sport and continue to improve. Many of the kids in my area took time off or played other sports in the spring, I was getting better. So it was very important in my development to wrestle freestyle when the folkstyle season ended. I would not be where I am today if I did not wrestle freestyle as a youth.‰
Competition begins at 8am on both Saturday and Sunday at the McEnery Convention Center, 150 W. San Carlos St. San Jose, CA
