Although the wrestling was good I have to say the refering was not good.
I always try and be as forgiving as anyone, however, it was a total desaster for the aggressive,offensive wrestlers throughout the qualifing rounds. There just was no stalling calls made for backing up and going out of bound. Stalling was OK! Wrestlers were getting there opening takedowns off counters of shots, then running and stalling the rest, because the ref's would't call stalling.It was as if they weren't there to make the wrestlers wrestle. Quite a few matches were desided by bad reffering. Some wrestlers were working very hard get takedowns on there apponnents whom were backing -up and going out of bounds constaintly. Hopefully, This will not happen again. If this is aloud to continue, It will only permote defensive wrestling and less action for spectators as well as take the sport in the wrong direction. I hope the ref's can see the importance in there partisipation in the match.

Welcome to Nevada Wrestling. For those interested in High school wrestling in Nevada this is how it works here. There are three divisions by School size 1A/27 Schools up to 169 Students. 2A/19 Schools up to 460 Students, 3A/12 Schools up to 1200 Students, 4A/46 Schools 1201 and above. 1A and 2A 46 Schools together have a North and South Qualifier. Then take top 4 wrestlers from both to make an 8 man state. 3A does the same but only has pathetic 12 Schools competing. 4A with 46 total Schools has 3 seperate qualifiers, North/Reno area 12 Schools, Sunrise/East Las Vegas 16 School, Sunset/West Las Vegas 18 Schools.Top 3 from each Regional goes to the 9 man state. Altough small its vary competetive. Nevada has a few top Wrestlers graduating every year. This year  will be no exception. Top Seniors 2011.

Canon City TIgers Place 5th in Reno Team Camp

July 16-21, 2006 the Canon City Tigers attended John Smith Team camp in Reno, NV. The team finished 5th out of 32 teams with two wrestlers finishing 3rd. Kraig Reiter and Adam Garcia will both be entering their senior year at Canon City High School and will be leading young team the majority of which are sophmores.

The only returning state qualifier, Aaron Smith, has transfered to Florence and will not be wrestling for Canon City this year.

Senators who finished third in the team race a year ago will be looking to improve on that mark this season. The Senators will also be looking to repeat at Regional Champions come February. 3A: Spring Creek Spartans
Spring Creek, NV

State Titles: 1996 & 2004

Spartans shocked the mighty two by beating Virgin Valley and Lowry by over 30 points in the team race. After finishing a disappointing 2nd in regionals, very little was expected from the Spartans come State. This year the Spartans will be the team to keep an eye out for. Returning for the Spartans is junior 2x State Champion and nationally ranked Bryce Saddoris (78-7). Other State Champions returning are Lonnie Anderson (Jr.), Trinity Perkins (So.), and Daniel Stenovich (Sr.). State Finalist Kris Torrise should give the Spartans enough points to be in the hunt for a repeat.

2A: White Pine Bobcats
Ely, NV

State Titles: 1995;1997;1998

The Bobcats will have three returning State Champions returning for the 2004-05 season. Hopefully that will be enough to propel the Bobcats into a battle with Battle Mountain for the team title in 2005. Gone are 2nd place finisher Faith Lutheran and 4th place finisher Incline who both moved into the 3A classification. The Bobcats return Jeramie Romero, Anthony Searle and Mike Romero while Battle Mountain's only state champion returning is Eric Fetterly. The 2A League has the makings of a two team race for the title while everyone else is rebuilding for the future.
