Luke Silver first wrestled for Mark Blair in Rockwall, Texas at the age of eight in 1997. The club later moved to Forney, Texas, and in October of 2000 it became Team Monday, with Coach Kenny Monday taking over the leadership role. Luke has always been teammates with Ben and Luke Ashmore. Luke Silver and Luke Ashmore say they’re twins from different parents; they have the same name and the same birthday! Luke Silver wrestled hundreds of matches with Team Monday, and won several National and International tournaments in the United States, Russia, and Mongolia. Luke wrestled in five two week tours in Russia and Mongolia from 2001-2006, where he won most of his matches and was interviewed many times for Russian television and newspapers. Luke met Coach Maksim Molonov on his first Russian tour where they became friends. Coach Molonov soon began traveling to the United States and is an assistant coach at Team Monday and Bishop Lynch High School, where Luke attends. “With Coach Monday, Coach Molonov, and Coach Mathews I’ve always had the best, world class coaching. Now John Smith will train me at Oklahoma State. I give credit to my coaches for my wrestling success.” Luke has three brothers and three sisters, Carly, Clay, Melanie, Jessie, Johnny, and Troy, five of them wrestle or have wrestled. Luke’s dad, Steve, wrestled high school at Spencerport, New York, then later in college at the University of Alabama, where he met Luke’s mother, Debbie, who was a mat maid at the time.
