2007 ARIZONA WRESTLING COACHES CLINIC October 20-21, 2007 Speaker/Clinicians TERRY BRANDS, University of Iowa. Brands was a 3-time NCAA finalist, 3-time Big Ten Champion and 2-time NCAA Champion amassing a record of 137-5 for legendary coach Dan Gable. What sets Brands apart is what he accomplished beyond college by winning 5 World Team Trials, 3 USA National Championships, and an Olympic Bronze Medal. His greatest achievement was winning two World Championships for the United Sates in 1993 in Toronto, Canada and in1995 in Atlanta. Brand’s intense leadership style helped propel the United State to win the World Team Title in those same years, the only two years the USA has ever won the world title. Brand gained extensive experience coaching at the University of Iowa, Nebraska, Montana State and the University of Tennessee. He is currently the National Freestyle Resident Coach at the Olympic Training Center. HENRY CEJUDO, Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs, Cejudo is the hottest rising star on the U.S. World Team. Last year he made history by becoming the only high schooler to win a U.S. Senior National Freestyle Championship and repeated again in 2007. An Arizona native, Cejudo won 4 state titles. Two at Maryvale H.S. and two at Coronado H.S. in Colorado where he moved to train at the Olympic Training Center. Cejudo was a Cadet Greco and Freestyle National Champion as well as a Junior National Champ in Freestyle and Greco. Named First Team Asics All-American. In 2007 he was the only American to win The PAN AM Games. Featured in Sports Illustrated and ESPN where he outlined his goal to become an Olympic Champion. LEWIE BENITZ, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School. One of the most successful coaches in American History. Benitz is in his 41st year as head coach compiling a phenomenal record of 650-58-2. His teams have won 17 State Titles, 12 State Runners ups and 30 region championships. On multiple occasions he has been selected Regional, State or National Coach of the Year by such publications as Wrestling USA Magazine, USA Today and Amateur News. As a collegian, he competed at the University of Wisconsin, Stout. He has since been inducted in to the Wisconsin and National Wrestling Hall of Fame. STEVE LINSACUM, Thunderbird High School, Phoenix, AZ. Linsacum has made his mark of excellence in two states. His first 12 years were in Colorado where his teams won two State Championships, two State Runner Ups, two third place finishes and 7 region titles. And honored as Coach of the Year in Colorado two times. The last 11 year he has served in Arizona with equal success, winning two more State Championships, 3 State Runner Ups, two third place finishes and 7 Region Titles. Collectively he has racked up an impressive record of 271-83 and crowned 31 individual State Champions. RC LAHAY, Grand Canyon University. RC was recently named head coach of Grand Canyon and will kick off the inaugural season this year in NCAA Division II. As a collegian he competed at Western State in Colorado where he was an NCAA II All-American, three-time Academic All-American, 3X NCAA II qualifier, RMAC Selection, as well as captain of the 2004 team that placed 4th in the nation. In high school he was a 3X State Champion for Hall of Fame coaches, Dennis Pirch and Dave LaMotte.
